To prove my effort, “‘One day I’ll own my own house, but I won’t forget who I am or where I came from. Passing bums will ask, can I come in? I’ll offer them the attic, ask them to stay, because I know how it is to be without a house’ (Cisneros 87). This quote shows that Esperanza is caring and considers the people who are less fortunate that her. She will let bums live in her attic because she knows and understands the struggles of living in poverty.” In the quote, I prove that I am able to dig deeper than the original idea of the text and analyze the traits and personalities of the characters in the plot. In the “Bums in the Attic” LRA, I strongly analyzed Esperanza’s character and how it affects those around her. I proved that I am able to understand the material I read and respond thoroughly to the text. I read the vignette, “Bums in the Attic” and was able to respond and draw conclusions about Esperanza’s caring, considerate characteristics.
