One of the aspects that intensely stand out in the video is the purpose. Instead of trying to persuade the viewer to visit the place, it informs the audience of the harmful, undesirable effects tourism has on the locals. In this video, the audience would be people who want to know a little more about how tourism affects the people of Kenya before visiting. Another aspect that is present in the video is the stance. Instead of looking at the hard facts about what the tourists enjoy, it comes off more subjective. It focuses on the opinions of the locals and shows what tourism can do to the locals. One technique used throughout the video was the statistics of how many people visit Kenya. The video showed the photos of the comforting places the tourists have the luxury of staying in and then showed the handmade homes the locals were staying in. This gives a drastic comparison of the living situations that the tourists receive and what the locals must live in. This is very effective in showing the poverty of the locals which makes it easier for the audience to feel bad for them. Revealing to the audience the photos of the local’s starving cattle made it extremely effective. It is perfect to get the audience to sympathize with the locals and see for themselves and not just hear it. Another technique that makes it effective is the interview with the local man. This interview explains the reasons behind why the locals perform for tourists and why they give tours of their homes. It is showing the audience just how scarce water and food is for the locals and see what type of living the people of Kenya have for themselves. This makes the audience open their eyes to see that there is more than just the beauty of Kenya and more problems than advertised in the travel
