Conquerors mush be able to protect their people from threats within their lands as well as outside hazards. An example of this is when the Great Wall of China was built to protect China from the northern threat of invasions. Not only was it used to defend China but it acted as a way to quickly warn if invaders were attacking by solders lighting beacons to warn other garrison on the wall that they were being attack. The soldiers would light their beacon if they saw the one before theirs lit so it was like a trail of fire to warn the people of China if invaders were attacking. The next example is of why conquerors need to protect from inside as well as outside their domain. September 11, 2001 will forever been a day of sorrow as the World Trade Center collapse when terrorist hijacked airplanes and crashed them into the Twin Towers in New York. Conquerors need to be able to make sure that people who are living in their lands can coexist with them and one another. To elaborate, Genghis Khan united the tribes of Mongolia by either making alliances with tribes that he could, or by destroying opposing tribes. Another example of this is Alexander the Greats war campaigns, because he conquered much of the ancient world, many different cultures were integrated together as a result. He managed to mix cultures from Italy, Greece, Persia, and Egypt. Doing this in thirteen short years however is no simple feat. The last example of this is the United States during Manifest Destiny was being enforced rapidly. The United States wanted to expand their country until they controlled all the land from the Atlantic Ocean, to the Pacific. The Native tribes were not keen on having their land taken away so the States decided that it would be faster to just kick them out with force. Many of the tribes were split up and integrated into American society. To close, a conqueror must be able to make people unite in any way
