There is no sin that out ways more than the other, a sin is a sin. “Here, she said to herself, had been the scene of her guilt, and here should be the scene of her earthly punishment; and so, perchance, the torture of her daily shame would at length purge her soul, and work out another purity than that which she had lost; more saint-like, because the result of martyrdom.” Hester knows that she has committed sin and she has learned from her mistakes and hopes that others can forgive and move on as well. In any religion it’s a sin to judge any other person because it’s not a person 's place to judge. It’s time for the other person to take responsibility as well. “The stigma gone, Hester heaved a long, deep sigh, in which the burden of shame and anguish departed from her spirit. O exquisite relief! She had not known the weight, until she felt the freedom!” The letter “A” is making Hester feel guilty considering the fact that the “A” stands for adultery. The community around Hester were very discouraging, rude, and judgemental. Hester wanted Pearl to see that her mother was strong and could do anything and to show that even though people talk that doesn’t mean you stop doing what you 're doing. Hester knew that her and Pearl would be facing some challenges but with God on their side and Dimmesdale “protecting” them they would be fine. “Hester Prynne was now fully sensible of the deep injury for which she was responsible to this unhappy man, in permitting him to lie for so many years, or, indeed, for a single moment, at the mercy of one, whose purposes could not be other than malevolent.” This was just a “trial” in their lives and they were going to get through it by having faith in God.
