As a part of the Honors College I would have the opportunity to continue this trend. The intellectual challenge that I will receive from the Honors college will add to the overall experience of my education. I will be able to take classes with students who love to be intellectually stimulated and will be able to work on difficult classes together. The opportunity to gain a greater depth of knowledge in the subjects I study is a very enticing opportunity. In order to graduate from the Honors College at Purdue, students are required to complete a Scholarly Project. Research allows students to use the skills and knowledge that they have learned in class and apply it to a real-life project. Over the summer before my senior year, I got first-hand experience of the benefits of research. I aided a few PhD students with their research. They are researching the loss of intensity of electromagnetic waves passing through planar waveguide chips. I used a program called MATLAB to make the measurement process more efficient. I was able to apply my comprehension from AP Physics C in this projects as it dealt with optics and waves. My knowledge in these fields increased as I worked on a practical project. By completing this Scholarly Project, I will be able to showcase use my education in a practical
