1.What surprised you in the book and why?
A. What surprised me was the time frame of the book. The time frame is in 2087. Another thing that surprised me was that the area that they were in was like a clock. Each hour was another horror and sometimes you can’t even see the horror. Some horrors would tear you up into little pieces and others they would make you go mentally insane. I would insert myself as Finnick (tribute/player). “Why” you might ask. Because he has really good abilities to throw tridents and is resourceful. He can make fish baskets out of anything and is very strong. Another reason why I would be him is because he can swim really well. His abilities to swim helped him because you start out surrounded by salt water. His swimming skills also helped him get crabs to eat. The crabs really helped him survive.
9. Do you find the characters convincing? Are they believable? Are they fully developed as complex human beings-or were they one dimensional?
A. The characters in the book aren’t convincing because there emotions are not really like ours. An example is when she stumbled over a skull of a dead person she just kept walking and didn’t care. Another reason why the characters weren’t convincing is when the president of Panem threatened all of the districts. The president’s breath smelled like blood as if he were drinking it. The characters were not one dimensional though. They went into their background and explained everything. An example is when Katniss was talked about her mom being a doctor.
