In the summer of 1940, the German Air Force, The Luftwaffe had decided to attack the Royal Air force. The Germans Luftwaffe had about 2500 air crafts where as the Royal Air Force had 1200 air crafts. The Royal Air Force did not have many pilots or experienced ground crews. The British didn’t have enough equipment, during that rough period of time Canada had provided the equipment and service form their pilots. Canada had provided great assistance to the British during the battle. A British fighter was shot down, so the Royal Canadian Air Force was there to take over. Canada already had their first division there and by the time the battle had started Canada’s second division with about 26 Canadian pilots were there too. There were many Canadians who were either in the Royal air force or were apart of the Royal Canadian Air Force but had joined the Royal air force to help Britain. It was decided to create a special squadron led by Canadians in the Royal Air force. This squadron showed some of the best talent of the war, found fighter pilots from across the country were now seen fighting the Nazis as a unit. This had given Canada and Canadian soldiers national recognition, by being able to fight bravely and give equipment to the British army.
