That is what abortion is doing. There are extreme cases like Gosnell who severed babies’ spinal cords after they had been born with a pair of scissors. However, when they are still in the womb, it is no different. God created that life and he has their lives in his hands. “The modern day systems of thought are truly enemies of the Gospel, having a radically different view of reality, and as such have the potential to destroy Christian faith and life at its foundations (Weerstra).” With the modern world continually growing to dislike Christians, it is getting harder and harder to defend ourselves from the growing attacks. Yet God told us we would be persecuted and we have to stay strong because will avenge us in the end. There is one point I would like to address, and that is abortion in the case of rape. If a woman doesn’t want a baby just because she was sleeping around or isn’t ready for it, murder is not the answer. Adoption is growing and many families would like to adopt, especially couples who can’t have children. However, in the case of rape, one could understand why, in their emotional distress, they would chose to get an abortion should they get pregnant. The government wants to give the poor phones, food stamps, and free college. In theory this is good, but when people start becoming “poor” to receive these benefits it destroys God’s purpose that man should work for him food. Proverbs 12:11 says, “Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense (NIV).” This verse clearly is stating that man was created to work for his food, not have it handed to him on a silver platter.
