The effect varies, depending on the drug, the body, and normal health of the person. Drugs can lead to malnutrition, memory loss, deterioration, psychotic behavior, brain damage, and many more serious conditions. Unfortunately, I have seen this first hand. Since the age of 13, Efren, an uncle of mine, began to heavily use drugs. His health began to dramatically decline, his attitude, his way of thinking was no longer the same. The short quote from the Qur’an previously stated above, isn’t only talking about shutting out the drugs and your addictions, but also the people who are holding you back from moving on. By simply getting rid of bad company, that can keep someone from following the wrong path. The youth are easily persuaded, by movies, celebrities, and especially by their friends.
