The limbic system is divided into four sections, the hippocampus, the amygdala, the hypothalamus, and the thalamus. The hippocampus is in charge of turning your short-termed memories into long termed memories. As MDhealth.com informs us, “The hippocampus also helps people analyze and remember spatial relationships, allowing for accurate movements.” This part of the brain can be found in the middle of the bottom of the temporal lobe in the cerebral hemisphere. If this part of the brain were to be damaged, you would just forget everything eventually and you could only live in the present. The next part of the limbic system is the amygdala; this part of the limbic system controls your fear, emotions, memories, and can be located once again in the temporal lobe. Dr. C.
