Aquinas’ Natural Law moral theory has many problem, but the key problem is that according to Aquinas the unnatural equals bad and the natural equals good so anytime a person does something unnatural then they are doing something wrong. The Catholic Church used Aquinas’ Natural Law moral theory to commit many abomination like the purge against “witches” and gays, which are not universal truths as there is nothing in the world that makes gays not natural. A normal definition of natural is everything that exist in the world is treaded as natural, which is against his sense of natural that is due to a personal belief of normal that does not accept certain things in the real world. Ethics is develop by a person over time and it’s very hard to do so as a person has to view sort every actions as “right” or “wrong” which can lead a person to basically decide the option of living in bad faith and not think about what you might view as “right” or “wrong”. If someone reads on want Aristotle may find “right” or ”wrong” and likes Aristotle’s view then the person could shape Aristotle’s view into his own view and hopefully done by free will. To use Aristotle as an example again, Aristotle’s ethics are not perfect by our standards as he was a supporter of slavery which is a very common view in his culture at that time, which means that it’s impossible to find person with perfect ethics but does not mean that we should not try to advance our ethics over time. Civil rights and racial equality movements have influence a large group of people’s ethics and that is not a bad thing as a goal of humanity should be attaining a better society than we have in present
