Life is full of roller coaster moments that bring out many emotions. In the book “The Crucible” by Suzanne Collins the character john proctor faces many ups and downs in his puritan town. John was a man that was highly viewed by all the people he was a good puritan man. Through the movie, his character shows more emotions and brings out his true self. There were many events that sparked his new emotions. Through the story, his characteristics good or bad will come out weather by a loved one or an enemy.
Through the story john constantly proves that he is a courageous man. In act two Cheever (one of the officials) comes to proctors house. He tells him that his wife Elizabeth has been charged for witchcraft. The church had been told that Johns wife has a poppet that she used on …show more content…
He becomes furious from this accusation saying it’s not true and grabs Mary warren their maid. He asks her if she placed the poppet into their house and if she placed the pin into it. Finally, john takes the warrant out of Cheever's hand and says “ (Suddenly snatches warrant out of Cheever’s hand and rips it.) Out with you!” This takes a tremendous amount of courage because that was a warrant from the church. Anything the church says is true and tearing that up was in the puritans sense tearing up god’s word. This takes a lot of courage because he is going against what the puritans think is gods command. Another moment where John shows a lot of courage is during the actual court session. Abigale and the other girls accused were screaming about a bird Mary had conjured they run from it into the corner of the room. Mary feeling afraid says “(Pointing at Proctor.) You are the Devil’s man!” Saying that John made her do it and that he is working with the devil. The judge very surprised says “I will have nothing from you,
