The journey was very difficult and nearly impossible. If she completes it, she’ll leave a legacy and become an inspiration. Her journey was mental and physical because she had to endure difficult conditions. Third, “For me, it is as if the Niger still keeps a part of me, as if to tell me that I finally belong to it” (Salak 1). She learned that she feels Niger is her home now and is close to her. Lastly, according to the Odyssey, “So with our brand we bored that great eye socket while blood ran out around the red hot bar.” (Homer 380). In other words, Odysseus turned Cyclopes blind. Odysseus learned on his journey that too much pride can get him in trouble. In fact, “But it fell short, just aft the steering oar, and whelming seas rose giant above the stone to bear us onward toward the island” (Homer 385). To clarify, Cyclopes threw a giant rock at their ship, but it fell too short so they survived. If the rock hit them, they would have drowned and died. Kira Salak had a physical and a mental journey, but Odysseus had only a physical journey. Salak learned Niger is her home now and Odysseus learned too much joy can invite trouble.
