However, vital to the process of “leadership” development, as it pertains to ministry leaders, it represents, from this writer’s perspective as follows: L – Loyalty, are leaders for Christ that bear true faith and allegiance to God; D – Duty, one being able to accomplish tasks as part of a team, despite the complex combination of the vision, missions, tasks and responsibilities, which may be all in constant motion; R – Respect, means treating others with dignity and respect while expecting others to do the same, trusting that all people have done their jobs and fulfilled their duty, while understanding self-respect is a vital ingredient of respect, which results from knowing you have put forth your best effort; S – Selfless Service, is putting the welfare of the organization, the church members, and subordinates before your own, which is larger than just one person; H – Honor, is a matter of carrying out, acting, and living the values of respect, duty, loyalty, selfless service, integrity and personal courage in everything you do, which honors Christ (highest military award is The Medal of Honor; I – Integrity, doing what is right, both legally and morally, which is a quality one develops by adhering to moral principles; and P – Personal Courage, which is one who faces fear, danger or adversity whether physical or moral (Army.Mil/armyvalues/features). Unfortunately, like that of the Christian faith, military soldiers find these values are considered difficult to live up to or sustain in one’s daily life.
