I believe that being a citizen is much more than just living in the same country for a certain number of years. There could be several ways ' people could define a citizen. For example, people might say that being a citizen means that you take act in good deeds and make your country a better place. Working hard to donate to your country is also another great trait a citizen could convey. Others might believe that a good citizen portrays kindness, generosity and a helping hand. Rights are a massive part in American society. Some could argue that rights are what run our country. As Americans, we have three God given rights; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We also have rights given to us by the government, called the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights is a list of amendments in the United States Constitution. There are twenty-seven amendments, all explaining different rights we have as Americans. The first ten amendments, were ratified simultaneously. These rights consist of: freedom of religion, right to bear of arms, prohibiting quartering of soldiers in the home, prohibiting unreasonable searches without warrant, right to a grand jury, right to speedy trials, right to trial by jury, prohibiting excessive fines, protects rights enumerate in the constitution, and the right to control the federal government. These amendments are just a few that shape our country. Other extensive amendments ratified later consist of: prohibiting the denial of the right to vote based on race, and prohibiting the denial of the right to vote based on sex. These rights given to us by the Constitution give us flexibility in our everyday lives. A citizen, to some, could just plainly mean being born in that certain country. To others, it is so much more. Being a citizen of America means you have rights that enable you to do almost everything you want, you have the opportunity to live with liberty in all aspects of your life and most importantly you have the ability to follow your dreams and beliefs. America has numerous amounts of opportunities for jobs, families and life in general. Being a good citizen is a choice, sometimes people abuse the rights they have as a citizen which is unfortunate. Not everyone is perfect, but variety is what makes a community strong. Clearly, liberty, rights and ability to follow your dreams is what makes a person an
