Great Times in the Roaring Twenties The beautiful era of the 1920s has given people great memories and happiness. As the economy grew during the 1920s, dramatic, social,and political changes started to happen. The national wealth doubled during 1920 through 1929, so people moved to the cities from farms. Thanks to the nationwide advertising and the spread of common chain stores, people bought the same goods and listened to the same music. With its modern hip-hop and pop ballad tunes created by the masterminded Jay-Z, the soundtrack helps set the tone and mood for many of the scenes. For instance, at the beginning of the movie when Nick starts to narrate where he met Gatsby, he says, “At a party in New York in the summer of 1922.” As soon as he finishes the sentence, the audiences are grabbed by an outstanding song,No Church in the Wild by Kanye West, and the audiences enjoy a smooth transition from Nick narrating to Nick standing in the busy streets of Manhattan.Other noticeable songs in The Great Gatsby are Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey and Crazy in Love by EmeliSandé&The Bryan Ferry Orchestra. Jay-Z and Beyonce’s music improve each party scene by adding a techno feeling. The soundtrack that director Baz Luhrmann used in the movie The Great Gatsby really helps audiences to relish the movie. The Great Gatsby represents the era of the 1920s very well. The Roaring twenties was an era of jazz. Director Baz Luhrmann and producer Jay-Z worked in conjunction to create a soundtrack that represents the jazz era with a modern twist. The Great Gatsby is an amazing representation of the great times in the Roaring Twenties while adding a modern twist. Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby, director Baz Luhrmann was able to incorporate many ideas from the novel and the beautiful era of the 1920s. Out of all the movies that show representation of the 1920s, The Great Gatsby out ranks them with its classic set costumes, epic soundtrack, and imposing cinematography. Throughout the entire movie, from minute one to minute one hundred and forty one, audiences can appreciate monumental cinematography, classic costumes, and amazing soundtrack. As many movie enthusiasts will agree, The Great Gatsby is a movie portrays the 1920’s in a surreal dreamlike feeling causing many people to fall in love with it. The Great Gatsby deserves a four out five stars rating because of the splendid work of director Baz Luhrmann. As a movie enthusiast,The Great Gatsby is a movie worthy of watching with friends or by yourself. Audiences will not regret watching The Great Gatsbybecause of all the amazing scenes that it offers.
