Symbolism In the novel The Great Gatsby the author F. Scott Fitzgerald has done a good job with adding alot of symbolism to his novel. The symbolism of The Eyes of Doctor T. J. The other symbol that has been used in the book is the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock.In the book The Great Gatsby, Gatsby uses the green light at the end of the dock as hope of being closer to Daisy and maybe one day taking her away from her husband Tom.The only reason he bought that house is that so he would be close to Daisy right across the bay.The green light also represents the future of Gatsby,as Nick tells us in the last page of the novel:”Gatsby believed in the green ligth, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us”.Finally we have all the colors that each have a different meaning.First of all we have the colors gold and yellow meaning real money and fake money. In other words the gold used to be their money meaning the color gold represented real money(gold) and yellow meaning fake money(fake gold). So you have Gatsby's party, where the turkeys are "bewitched to dark gold," and Jordan's "slender golden arms",and Daisy the "golden girl", and Gatsby wearing a gold tie to see Daisy at Nick's house showing off his wealth. In the other hand we also have yellow representing fake gold.We have the twins with the yellow dresses meaning that they act like they have the money but in reality they dont, they just act like their wealthy and higher class by going to Gatsby’s parties. We also have Gatsbys yellow car showing us his desire for him entring the higher class. He is currently in the lower class because his car is yellow representing fake money he has
