Taking care of a child is something that should be well thought out and organized. There are many disadvantages to getting pregnant during the teenage years. Being a teen parent forces them to grow up too fast and now they will be responsible for another life besides theirs. A lot of teens don’t realize that before they get pregnant, their life will have to be fully devoted to taking care of that child. Schools actually conducted a study on the effectiveness of an infant simulator as a deterrent to teen pregnancy among middle school students. The schools gave them an opportunity to experience parenthood to help them avoid being in the actual situation. The study did not work and one reporter stated, “The problem on which this study is based is that we, in the United States, have adolescents who are experiencing unplanned pregnancies, who do not complete high school, who work in low-paying jobs, and who receive welfare benefits.” (Carol Best Hillman) “When a baby is born to a mother who has not yet grown up herself, both mother and baby are likely to have a limited future and to place a substantial burden on society” (Hillman). That’s why it is very important to raise the child the best way possible and inform them about the struggles of being a teen parent so the same mistake won’t continue to happen. Teens miss out on a lot trying to take care of their child, such as school activities and dates with friends. They have no more social life and tend to be very stressed
