A particular experience that I know differentiates from others is, being Hmong. Being Hmong has given me a lifetime experience and the opportunity to communicate with others in the Hmong community. Growing up with traditional, cultural, and authoritarian Hmong parents who have immigrated to the US and who struggles with English, has definitely given me a different lifestyle of an average American. It has benefited me in ways of being different and it has given me obstacles. Although, it’s something I just joined in the beginning of 2015, it’s been more than worth my while. This association has given me opportunities to do things out of it too. Opportunities that support other associations out of the Hmong community. I’ve grown as a leader by learning different ways on how to empower one another and communicate.
