The previous weekend I had just finished building my first desktop computer with my best friend. However, in only a day something had gone wrong and the desktop would not turn on anymore. I was drafting a plan on how to troubleshoot. I titled it “Operation: Fix My PC”. I wrote down the steps I would take find which component had gone bad. I skimmed numerous websites for diagrams of my model power supply and motherboard. I felt that those were the two main suspects since they were the most prone to failure. I picked up the skill of recording ideas and steps of action from my dad. Mainly from force because he told me that if I did not write a well documented plan and show it to him, he would not let me repair my computer. I knew he was disappointed because we spent hundreds of dollars on hardware and now it was just a paperweight. I was even more disappointed because until the PC was up and running, I would not get to play any of the games I planned …show more content…
I have already spent a lot of time and I will not give up now. I have wanted to build a computer for years now and I don’t want this dream to be a failure.”
My dad felt a bit of pity and decided to let me plan and build my PC the week before school started. Furthermore, he contribute $200 more which allowed me to get a top of the line CPU from Intel. I planned as much as I could this time around. Aesthetics wise, I purchased lighting kits and braided cables to match the color of the motherboard. My white case lighted up blue and the rest of my parts were also blue except for the video card. I decided to name my PC “Deep Blue” after its color and IBM’s famous super computer. The week before school started, I finally got to put the machine together. After putting together and disassembling so many computers before I had become nothing short of an expert. I plugged in everything in order so that none of the cables would overlap and the inside was flawless. I meticulously routed the LED strips so that it would showcase my graphics card and the sky blue heatsinks on the motherboard. After everything was in place, I closed my eyes, prayed, then mashed the power button, the PC hummed to life. Deep blue was a success. I ran the Firestrike benchmark test and Deep Blue scored better than 87% of the computers on the planet. This was my 5th time building a PC, but this time I had finally gotten it
