Online dating has revolutionized the way people meet and even get married. People can now meet other people that have the same interests, which is more efficient and time saving. While this is true, Amy Loudon, a social media manager argues that online dating has “truly left behind traditional values of courting and matchmaking” (Loudon). Online dating can be seen as a negative addition to our system, but when compared to arranged marriages they aren’t as bad because you usually are matched with people who are like you, unlike other people choosing for you. Although there are other negative things that come with online dating such as catfishing, endless searching, and unreliability, it still has the core of normal dating of meeting and building a relationship, even if most of it is done on the internet. One the other hand, Cynthia David, a recently married woman who used eHarmony, tells us her story about how she “was having a hard time managing my time, with work, family, and [her] social life”(David). Dating online has changed many people’s lives who handle a busy lifestyle, and will continue to help single men and women find love. Courtship started with parental control, where their kids had no chance to pick who they married and couldn’t really build a relationship. It wasn’t until 100 years ago when dating came to existent, which we added to our system of marriage. Then recently internet dating was created, and people could now meet people without having to spend as much time going out. With all this change in such little time, it is scary to think what else could change in the coming years. It is argued that that .
