I believe it’s a cornerstone of relationships, self-perception, and much more. Most relationships whether, they are family, intimate, or friendly, are built on emotion sharing, which is one another talking about our emotional experiences. Emotional sharing builds up the foundation of trust, which bonds the messenger and the receiver, bringing them closer together. Usually people share their feelings with at least one other person. For some it might be easier to share feelings but for others, like myself, it may be more difficult. Venting which is almost like emotion sharing, is “to relieve by giving expression to something” (Dictonary.com May 2016). It can feel better for you whether what you are venting about is positive or negative. It’s a form of relief. Venting usually works for me, I don 't have a lot of people I can trust but I do have a select few. Mostly when it’s about the negative aspects in my life. It takes a lot for me to bring down my walls for people because after everything they end up showing me why I was hesitant in the first place. Trust is a big factor in my life a well as with everyone else 's. As you can tell that’s why it’s hard for me to express my feelings with others. The only thing that isn’t healthy for us is the opposite, which is suppression. Which most of us are guilty of, including myself. It 's the most used way of emotion management, attempts to influence which emotions you have, when you have them, and how you experience and express them ( McCornack 123). Suppression is probably one of the easier ways as well. Keeping things to yourself lets you feel more in control of your emotion, because of the fear of response. Fear of rejection, denial truth, or status of reputation stops many people from expressing their feelings, standing up for what they believe in, or having any type of social
