We read about the horrors of war in Iraq, evil manifesting itself in the form of genocide in Serbia, civil riots, and closer to home is the existence of militant groups set up to topple the government. However, our strong tie that binds us together with the admirable spirit of tolerance and high level of respect for each other halts us from being caught up in the ugly politics of supremacy and power.
This is no surprise because without unity and harmony on the pedestal, all our efforts will be futile, and all our achievements meaningless. Racial strife can easily tear us apart and set our country’s development back in many lost years. We will then wind up on the road of no return and lament that history is indeed irreversible. Open houses are held everywhere to welcome guests of all ethnic origins. The spirit of goodwill spills over the mundane daily encounters among us. Festival are joyous social events meant to be fun and colourful. Enjoy them and at the same time, do our part in building a united and harmonious society that we can be proud of. This is a land of bounty, splendor and glory, we should complement each other in pursuing our dreams and seeking to bring our country’s achievements to the next level. To put it all in a nutshell, we want our country, Malaysia to soar high and shine not only in terms of impressive development, but most importantly as a beacon of harmony in diversity for others to emulate. Seeing our people uplifted, reinvigorated and with a renewed sense of pride and belonging to one nation, especially in a multi-racial country such as ours, is a priceless
