Across the course we learned about different examples of culture like the frugal culture of Acer & Ikea, the culture of knowledge development like McKinsey & GE and many others. For each case, their culture played a role on determining the impact of the company as whole. In our present time we have several organizations whose culture has shaped the way they perform and the way they are seen by others. We have organizations like Starbucks that maintains a culture of development and communication or Google who has a culture of innovation and development. The truth is that culture is what has helped many organizations to set themselves apart from the competition in order to scale. Culture is such an important attribute and being able to establish and keep the correct culture is by no means an easy task. We have been able to learn that sometimes it is also hard to not only keep a culture but establish it globally as well. An example is Lincoln and their rewarding system. Although it became part of their culture and who they are, they struggled to implement it across other regions. We have learned that one must be capable of capturing the essence of an organizations culture and learn how to adapt it to the different environments that other regions present. Processes establish the work and action that each organization performs. Processes guide employees on the way they perform and can help organizations succeed or be a blocker. Culture and structure can play key roles on the type of processes that are created within a company. We learned about Ikea and their frugality culture. Because of this culture we learned that Ikea embraced processes that enable expenditure reduction. Also because Ikea’s leader embraces a culture of simplicity their processes reduced a lot of bureaucratic work in the organization. There are several examples that we are all able to see around us. McDonalds is a fast food company that serves hamburgers. Their culture establishes an organization that is capable of serving food to customers without the need of waiting. Because of this, McDonalds implements processes that enable their workers to serve meals in the shortest period of time possible. We also have other examples like Walmart. They establish a culture that seeks to provide consumer goods at reduced prices. To achieve such objective, Walmart implements processes that enables them to control influx of products and sometimes have control of producers in order to ensure they have what customers seek to buy.
