Younger individuals are not being portrayed adequately. They are being deemed as inexperienced, and not given a chance. Although, journalists Czekalinski and Brownstein wrote that “Millennials are… the best-educated generation ever. In 2012, [ninety] percent of young adults held a high school diploma, a record high. That year, for the first time, a third of young people held at least a four year-college degree” (1). Millennials being young people born between 1980-1995, recently reaching adulthood. Lee Hamilton, former congress member argues, “[c]ongress has a lot of problems right now, and term limits are a distraction from the truly hard work that needs to be done” (58). Taking the statement into consideration, there are bigger priorities at hand. Congress has a big role in government, and is expected to work fluently and efficiently. Term limits are a pressing issue but not an urgent one. Overall, there are several reasons to begin using term limits within the House of Representatives. However, the likelihood of term limits being enacted any time soon are slim to none as shown through research. Young millennials are steadily rising into the chairs of power and will eventually take their spots alongside the many other successful politicians and congressmen. Eight year term limits should be enacted. Congress is a place to better the nation with laws, and policies. It is not a place to become a career
