As we all know working for your father is not always the best idea, especially at a young age, so I decided to find a job where I could be more independent. Once I got my driver’s license I found a job as a waitress; it was fun and I made a good living. I was in High School, I had my driver’s license, and I had a job! What’s next? Well, I had no clue. Having a great work ethic was just about all I was sure of at the time. I went on working all through high school, having a great work ethic, but missing the value of pursuing a higher education. Graduation quickly approached and I was at a moment in my life where I was given a choice, or more like an ultimatum, between joining the workforce or higher education. A bundle of my classmates all had plans, scholarships, and goals; they were ready to move on to the next step of education and their future. Me? I had no idea. So I went through an online program and finished. I was nineteen with a personal training certificate. oh, and pregnant. That was a surprise and definitely unplanned. I panicked and I did what I thought was right, put my personal training on hold and worked my tail off until my little miracle was born in 2004. As time went by my personal training goal faded and I continued to wait tables to support my daughter and I. After having my daughter and continuing as a waitress with long erradic hours, I decided it was time to find a secure and solid job with benefits, knowing I had to support my myself and my daughter. That is when I found a wonderful job opportunity in the oil & gas industry. I learned many new skills and worked in a professional job environment. I finally had a great job that I no longer worked nights, holidays, and weekends. I continued to work in the industry for over seven years, with the ups and downs, as I mentioned earlier, I proved my work ethic was unstoppable. I built my confidence, skill sets, knowledge, and my hard work allowed me to be successful in this area until I felt that there was still something missing. I had finally landed the job that I thought I always wanted, but again it was just another “job.” This is what lead me furthering my education
