Their main goal for the conference was to create a Charter that would be accepted by all representatives. There was a lot of bickering and many disagreements, even so that many thought the conference would end without a compromise. There were ten absolute meeting for this job but overall there over four hundred to surely make every country and person benefit from the charter. Once a conclusion was met and votes/vetos were done, the document was signed. "With this Charter the world can begin to look forward to the time when all worthy human beings may be permitted to live decently as free people,"(Un.org, 2015). Thus, the United Nations was born on June 26th, 1945. The charter basically states that with it, the hope of peace and friendliness will flourish and all =human rights will be acknowledged (Un.org, 2015). The actions of the UN are based off of a certain foundation of set rules. For example, all countries that signed the document are required to accomplish their duties by spreading their message, everyone is equal, all disputes are to be settled by peaceful means, no country is allowed to threaten any other country within the charter, and domestic feuds will not be impeded on. This band of soldiers would be sent to war-torn countries to try to initiate a ceasefire in order to peacefully stop conflict all together. Pearson was the first Canadian to ever win the Nobel Peace Prize, causing the world to kick start a reputation that Canada it never thought it would have. Since Canada is known for its loyalty towards saving as many lives as possible, its reputation began to increase while not making any enemies in the process. The country participated in many peacekeeping missions such as the UN Mission to Korea, UNEF 1 (sends troops to Egypt, Suez Crisis), ONUC (sends troops to calm the nation, and remove Belgium troops), the list goes on and on. More recent endeavours would be the sending 2000 soldiers to Afghanistan in hoping that an American led mission would be beneficial by removing the Taliban from the government (2001), Sudan (2005), Haiti (2004), Palestine (2007), or the help offered by troops for natural disasters (Nepal earthquake, 2015). Yet many of these missions still found a way to kill innocent people, and soldiers that laid their life on the line only to make the world a better place.
