The kids who attended this camp were apart of the upper class with very strong personalities. As a teacher, I had to learn tricks and tactics that would help the children do the projects they were supposed to do. If they finished their project before class was over they were rewarded with endless amounts of free draw paper. Through doing it once I discovered if at the end of the instructions for the day I added, “And if you finish early you can come up and get free draw paper,” the campers would work diligently so that they would be able to receive free draw paper. Also, due to the fact that most of the children are from upper class families they are used to getting whatever they want, whenever they want, as well as endless amount of sole attention. I also had to take that into consideration when problems would arise. This shows that child psychology, that how they are brought up affects behavior in their day-to-day life. From my own experience, I know that if I want something from my mother, I do something nice for her, in hopes that she will remember when I want something. Children are finding this out earlier and are using it not only on their parents but on their teachers, camp counselors, and anyone they meet. They realize that when they say please and thank you they are more likely to receive what they were looking
