This year a girl, named Aysia, went missing from Christiansburg after agreeing to meet a stranger whom she talked to online. Technology introduces us to a vast array of social media, but it is up to each individual to practice safe cyber discretion. Our communication has improved greatly over the past century, from writing letters, to talking on landlines, to cell phones, and lastly texting. Texting is useful because you do not have to wait for a letter to arrive or stop what you are doing to talk on the phone. You can do many things while texting. The popular TV show Once Upon a Time splits between Medieval fairytale times and their modern day counterparts. Each character exists in both worlds. The fairytale characters rely on letters and pigeons to communicate, while their modern day selves use cell phones and computers. While modern day communication is great, meanings can get lost due to the lack of facial expression, tone, pitch, and many other factors we have with face to face communication. Auto correction can be wonderful, or the destruction of a poor individual. I was once texting my friend Bethany, and I was telling her a story about my parents and some wasps.
