I have seen some deaf people think that other people are talking about them and them beening deaf. On page 94 “ There is no deaf heroes. There is no ASL ( pg94, Lane).” I went looking and there really isn't anything for deaf heroes and there wasn't anything about deaf or ASL. I believes that we should have at least someone to look up to and it doesn't have to be a superheroe or someone in comic books, it can be a parent or anyone in the community. My heroe is my aunt because she raised two daughters on her own and started her own business and then when she passed she donated her organs to save peoples lives. On page 97 “Deaf people must overcome this acceptance of the judgement of the other.” “Jeff McWhinney has argued, and must acquire a deaf consciousness “before we can achieve political equality. To destroy relationship between hearing and deaf people (pg. 97, Lane).” There is many of the deaf community that get judged on a daily based. What is accually language and what is not excepted in the culutar. This was hard for me to read because when I think about it that be the only way someone can talk or express themselves and the government and culuter wanna take that away from them. On page 103, “Memebers of these language minorities are usually realistic about language and power; they recognize that their children need to know the majority language to get ahead (pg103, Lane).” Well they says that knowing other languages gets you farther in live. I have seen from working at walmart that knowing other languages can defenitly help with peope who don't speak the primary language. So times finding someone that knows the language to translate is harder then learning the language. On page 105, “Language oppression is not a recent development. Language has long been an instrument of empire. Education is the battleground where llinguistic minorities win or lose their rights (pg 105, Lane).” Education has always been a battle. My personal exsperance with education is that the teachers and principle don't always now the best way to handle a child with a disease or a different language. There answer to this is move them to special education or ask the parents to home school the child and think that solves the issues. On page 106, “ The minority language is not allowed in the school, this reduces the self-image and ther potential achievement
