If the computer and website allows one to download a photo, is this individual committing copyright infringement? Possibly, yes. Copyright laws are confusing to almost everyone, including the artists and composers, and/or the creator of this image or intellectual property, as well as the one who wants to download this composition, no matter the reason. There are exceptions, such as teaching purposes, ‘fair use’, 'public domain ', as well as for librarians. Ethics and legal concerns need to be considered prior to clicking the ‘download’ prompt. Although visual media is at our fingertips, photographs, and other intellectual property, though beneficial, are usually protected by a copyright; furthermore, education about this issue will help to prevent legal and ethical implications that can occur if one violates the copyright.

The copyright laws are in place to provide protection of one’s personal work, to prevent Plagiarism and assist the creator’s in keeping ownership of his or her work. There are ethical and legal considerations when one chooses to copy another’s personal work or image; therefore, one must review the copyright policies before making the final decision. Stop! Do not copy or download someone else’s photo or intellectual property without checking for a copyright that protects said material. One is safer to investigate the image prior to copying or downloading it because jail is not a safe nor enjoyable
