For those who are overweight, weight gain was reduced by 18.5pounds. The relative odds were in favor of weight loss than weight gain. There were many weaknesses though.The data was gathered from 1,039 people, 43% practiced yoga for 30 minutes or less. Normal yoga session last 60-90 minutes. Mong that 43% only 132 practiced yoga for 4 or more years. Continuously many could not report the type of yoga practiced, which differ in physical intensity. This study’s design, however, is cross sectional so the data is retrospective. There is also a problem with people under reporting their weight. (higher in overweight people). Yoga practitioners were in better health overall. There were several strengths to the study as well. The questionnaire, which questioned intensity, frequency, type, and duration of physical activities in a 10 year period, was valid.extensive data was collected on diet, health history and previous weight change. Because he sample size was so large individuals with serious illnesses were excluded from the study. Yoga is related to weight loss and has the capacity to contribute to maintaining weight. The study was designed to collect data from the ages of 30- 45 so people in their teens or early 20s and 30s would not qualify. Race does not seem to be a problem because no race was specified.
