That is a problem towards climate change; if we can consume less and think green, less fossil fuel would burn to extract and transport goods around the world. We know that we need food to survive; however, there is a change that can be made when going grocery shopping. One change is to change plastic bags to reusable bags. “An estimated 12 million barrels of oil are used to manufacture the 30 million plastic bags that Americans use each year. That is equivalent to the amount of oil in our Strategic Oil Reserve. When used for bags, it is a wasteful way to deplete our oil supply and contribute to CO2 build-up in our atmosphere”(Plastic Bags and Climate Change). The first action that consumers worldwide can change is their products of packaging. As individuals we can use the reusable bags, even though there can be a one time charge on those bags, this small change can benefit us significantly. Nevertheless, there are people that are willing to make a change, but also people who will object to this proposal. People focus more on their wants than their needs so they will continue consuming unnecessary things. Moreover, people who grocery once a week usually have a large amount which means they would have to buy plenty of reusable bags which they are not willing to buy. Having free plastic bags from the grocery store is more convenient for individuals; however, they do not realize the damage that they are …show more content…
There should be more reports on climate change exposed in the news so that people can be more aware of the situations. The government, the press and companies should be honest and for once care about the population and the world rather than being biased or self concerned. Although we have solutions and agencies that support these solutions, most of the time people do not acknowledge the urge to make changes. Money and lack of responsibility are aspects that stop indiviuals to act on these acts. We focus more in the present, on how much it is worth now, instead of focusing on the future and the savings in the long run. We need to be able to distinguish between needs and wants when going out shopping there are small things stuff that are damaging our climate change and they are not of much importance. Lastly, we need to make it a habit to turn off the lights and use electricity efficiently. Humans have increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration by a third since the Industrial Revolution began(Mike Lockwood) . This is why it is about time we as individuals make a difference. Although scientists are questioned whether or not certain things affect climate change, there are an efficient amount of research that has been exposed and are able to make the changes and the difference in the world that would only benefit
