Social class can be determined based on several indicators – education, occupation, income and geographical location (Canny, 2017). This means, that a student’s social class is determined by the education and occupation of their parents, with education providing a means of social mobility for students and parents alike. The provision of education can depend on the socio-economic background of students and their families.
