Due to the extreme controversy over the topic the Animal Welfare Act was signed into law. This protects the animals and sets guidelines and laws at both the state and local level in order to regulate animal research. This law states that animals must give the animals: access to clean food and water, regular inspections by vets, proper enclosure size, and appropriate temperature. So the animals are not being exposed to improper conditions, or they shouldn’t be according to the law. Also in order to even use animals for research you must be approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee or the IACUC.…
This picture was a catalyst that shifted the nature of animal rights advocacy by creating an understanding of how powerful imagery can be when it is widely marketed. The effectiveness of this campaign ensured that this form of advocacy had a trickle-down impact on movements throughout the decades and inspired activists to rely on imagery to highlight animal cruelty. This…
Animal cruelty, almost everyone has heard about it and most people are tired of hearing about it. Each year, millions of animals are being killed from abuse around the world. Animal cruelty can happen to any animals and you may have experience it, but you may never have realized it. We see abuse towards animals, but most f us never actually did anything because it is not our “responsibility”. You should not ignore it and you should report it to the police.…
PETA is widely known for its disturbing use of media. It intentionally utilizes extraordinary concepts within video advertisements, print campaigns, and online campaigns in order to imprint a strong image that leads to debate, which eventually raises awareness about animal abuse and possibly encourage the audience to follow PETA. Such forms of mass communication are essential in achieving PETA’s goal as its message can effectively reach large dispersed audiences, the potential consumers and producers of animals related products in farms, entertainment industry, fur trade, and laboratories.…
There are a lot of animals are killed, in America, from animal testing. Animals get tested for products that humans use and most of the time animals deteriorate or even die. Also using animals shows other parts of the world that Americans are cruel. Animals testing should not be allowed, because it hurts and kills animals.…
Animal rights have always been a major disagreement, though once PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) was co-founded in 1980 these rejected animals were shown some light. The amount of shelters founded since 1980 has skyrocketed. “Today there are over 6,000 shelters in the United States alone” (www.peta.org). Not only has shelters strongly been affected after the discussion of animal rights have taken off, but many activists have been greatly changed the paths for many struggling animals.” To reduce the amount of abandoned and abused animals daily, many animal rights activists have encouraged shelters and have been involved dedicating their time to these affected animals” (www.peta.org).…
I want to make this a priority because it's a big problem and we should act now. Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse or animal neglect, is the intentional infliction by humans of suffering or harm upon any non-human animal, regardless of whether the act is against the law. I’m just looking in Texas but it's a world problem. What i'm asking for is for more money so we can give it to shelters, then they can help more animals to survive.…
When I was in fifth grade, I was introduced to a website developed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) featuring animated Sea Kittens. Rebranding fish introduced kids to their concept that fish could feel pain, just like household pets. After dressing my own Sea Kittens, I read articles about the unethical treatment of animals. As a vegetarian, I was on a quest for information about the food animal industry and PETA’s website inspired me to conduct my own research. As I explored a more balanced understanding of the food animal industry, I broadened my research and began developing my own opinions regarding the treatment of food animals.…
When researching about animals and science I learned a lot and was highly surprised about many things. First off I learned what the Animal Welfare Act is. I didn’t know there was such a thing but the idea of it completely makes sense. When I went deeper it research I found some very surprising facts.…

Animal cruelty is a big deal to people all across the world. The meaning of animal cruelty is inflicting pain and causing suffering to any type of animal. Animal cruelty is growing worldwide in today’s society, and the most common identified cruelty’s is scientific research, abandonment, and mistreatment. The Animal Welfare Act, achieved in 1966, supports most common house pets but does not include farm animals. Nicholas Kristof recently wrote about how chickens are often raised to have breasts so large that their legs can’t hold up their body weight. And other Times writers have written about abuse of many other common farm animals. This is not fair to these animals. I believe we should provide farm animals with more equal rights.…
The goal of this memo is to present a set of proposed questions about the Kentucky Fried Cruelty campaign which will posted on the PETA Facebook page. We want to know the public’s opinion on the website for the campaign so that we can make changes to increase the effectiveness of the campaign. Summary In 2003, PETA launched the Kentucky Fried Cruelty campaign. The campaign seeks to change the fast food restaurant KFC’s treatment of chickens.…
Animal rights is a topic you hear about more frequently as time passes. It has a plethora of followers, but as with any social issue, it has its fair share of naysayers. Since its awareness was made popular in 1966 by the Animal Welfare Act, laws in the United States started being put in place to protect animals of all kinds. Animal rights could be defined as rights that protect the lives and wellbeing of animals. It includes, but is not limited to, domesticated animals, like pets and farm animals, wild animals, zoo or circus animals, research animals, and wild animals.…
Humans, animals, plants and all kinds of creatures live in this planet relevant to each other in an established order. To maintain the order and to keep the planet habitable we are responsible for our actions against other creatures. This leads to the point that we have some moral obligations towards animals. To clarify, we as humans can not cause unnecessary pain that even Edwin Locke who is against animal rights agrees upon (Edwin Locke, 1). However, these moral obligations do not include meat eating which many of animal rightists strongly disagree on but indeed include not to have animal agriculture under very cruel conditions.…
