Humor in Society
Humor is not meant to be taken seriously but to relay a message to someone or something in a less hash way. Alainde de Botton wrote a book titled, Status Anxiety, where he says, "that the chief aim of humorists is not merely to entertain but "to convey with impunity messages that might be dangerous or impossible to state directly." De Botton says because society requires humorists to say things that other people cannot or will not say. De Botton sees Humorists as serving a meaningful function in society.” I strongly agree with de Botton's view about humor playing a vital role in society. Humor can allow people to freely express how they perceive or can relate to someone or something. Humor can be used to lighten certain situations. Humor usually can be used to state something in a nicer way even though it is so harsh. It takes you away from the bigger picture. …show more content…
It’s like it allows us to just sit back and relax and enjoy. When you hear the word humor you began to think of making someone laugh or simply entertaining them.
