If Tybalt did not get in so many fights then he would have not died, which caused such a problem for the rest of the book. A lot of these things cause chain reactions by tybalt dying, then Capulet pushing the wedding between Juliet and Paris sooner, then Juliet fake killing herself, which lead to Romeo’s death, and her real death. Right after Juliet is informed of Tybalt’s death she is also informed that she is to marry Paris soon. Lady Capulet says “Marry, my child, early next Thursday morn, The gallant, young and noble gentleman, The County Paris, at Saint Peter’s Church”(3.5). I believe this is due to the fact that they are trying to bring in something good because everyone was so sad due to Tybalt’s Death. Tybalt comes upon Benvolio, Mercutio, and Romeo as they talk. Tybalt then demands that Romeo fights him, but Romeo refuses to fight which evolves into Tybalt and Mercutio fighting. As said in the book, Tybalt says to Romeo “Romeo, the hate I bear thee can afford No better term than this,—thou art a villain”(3.1) to which Romeo replies, “Tybalt, the reason that I have to love thee Doth much excuse the appertaining rage To such a greeting: villain am I none; Therefore farewell; I see thou know’st me not.”(3.1) This shows how when they first meet in this scene, Tybalt insists on fighting while Romeo politely asks him to stop. This evolves into Mercutio and Tybalt fighting, where Tybalt stabs Mercutio under Romeo’s arm while he tries to break up the fight. This leads to Romeo wanting revenge, and killing Tybalt. This caused the Prince to ban Romeo.
All in all, Tybalt is the preeminent person to blame for the fatalities of Romeo and Juliet due to the fact that his crude behavior caused the wedding between Juliet and Paris, he caused romeo to be banished, and he often tries to fight the Montagues only making the the matters more dreadful than they were previously.
