Black Lives Matter Movement
The Black lives matter movement, often called BLMM, is a worldwide activist movement. This movement is described as a “clear vision of the world where black humanity and dignity is a reality. BLMM protests police killings, racial profiling, brutality, and racial inequality (Lee). The movement began as a hashtag, #BlackLivesMatter, back in 2013 after George Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges in the shooting of Trayvon Martin (Winter). BLMM street protests started “street demonstrations” after the death of Michael Brown and Eric Garner (Lee).
Black Lives Matter released a policy agenda, which was showed on NBC News, called “A Vision for Black Lives: Policy Demands for Black Power, Freedom, and Justice.” Multiple activist and advocacy groups joined together to …show more content…
