My Role
As the director, it was not only my job to cast the production, but I also had to supervise and coordinate with all the other artists. I selected Jimmy Smits to play the wealthy artist Gabriel, and I chose Antonio Banderas as Tomas for “Paint the Town.” I decided that I wanted to emphasize the importance of family despite all the hardships we endure. Thus, demonstrating that at the end of the day family is the most constant support system. We read the play initially and then collaborated in a group to share our thoughts and ideas to create the show. After sharing our ideas, we realized that each of us emphasized family so we trusted each other to follow through with rest of our jobs. Our group worked well on helping each other convey our ideas appropriately and effectively for the maximum effect of comprehension for the audience. If anyone was having trouble, we would all pitch in to help out. Although there was no feedback from the audience, we can only hope and assume that our direction of the production was effective and original. The audience was silent and respectable for the whole
