Selye used stress to refer to the response an organism makes. According to him stress is a non specific response. He divided GAD (General Adaptation Syndrome) in 3 parts. Alarming situation, body is prepared for fight or flight response by the involvement of SNS as heart rate and blood pressure is increased. Resistance situation is the second stage in which the organism adapts to the stressors, external appearance is normal but internal physiology is abnormal. Certain interpersonal skills, self efficacy, emotional intelligence, creativity, spirituality, problem solving skills, communication helpful in reducing stress in students. So the students better cope with stress full events through improved use of their emotional intelligence. . ( Salovary & .Mayer 1997) A review of the literature highlights the need for examination of the relationship of emotional intelligence as an overarching concept to the Management of Stress.
Objectives
The objective of the study include
1. To investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and Stress among students
2. To investigate whether emotional intelligence is the predictor of Stress or not.
Hypothesis
We hypothesized that emotional intelligence would predict stress among Students. Following hypotheses were drawn to be tested
1. Emotional intelligence will be positively related to stress among Students.
2. Emotional intelligence predicts stress.
