The story, Things Fall Apart, is a perfect example of social interactions and how one event can lead to another. The book is a narrative so it is telling you a story about someone. The people in this book are part of several African tribes in southern Nigeria. This story tells how one bad decision leads to many more bad decision or events, and even when everything goes back to the better something else can ruin it all. One of the first bad events in the story is when Okonkwo decides to kill his Ikemefuna, who was like a son to him, because the Oracle of Umuofia tells him he needs to, even though the oldest man in the village said he should have nothing to do with this. In the end this bad thing he did, killing Ikemefuma, leads to another bad event for him. While he was at a funeral his gun went off accidently during the gun salute and killed someone. This led to him and his family to be sent to exile for seven years. Achebe in this story shows perfectly how one mistake can lead to another one if you are not careful. This concept is the same way a society can fall apart. In society the people as a whole can make bad decisions that ultimately lead to same type of decisions again and again. If those decisions are harmful to society, then if the society keeps making the same decisions then the society at some point will self-destruct. The book also talks about how society can fall apart.
