Freshman often times do not know how to organize their schedules; one moment we are socializing and the next we are mocking up an essay for class. To this day, I and other students struggle to balance social relationships, sleep, appetite, and course work. As in Learning How to Learn, there are BOLD 101 assignments which discuss our individual learning styles; however, not all students take full advantage of the resources (i.e., The Writing Center, Tutoring, Counseling) here at Mary Baldwin College (MBC). Also, unlike the number of available psychologists in Adapting to College Life in an Era of Heightened Stress, there are fewer counselors and psychologists at MBC which may make students feel uncomfortable. Dr. Nadia Kuley is the main psychologist at MBC, and students may feel that there is not a variety of counselors nor psychologists to talk with. In contrast, I believe that the MBC maintains positive aspects as well. This includes extracurricular activities, greater awareness of resources, social events which may potentially be therapeutic, and the opportunity to develop close relationships with both students and staff. In terms of whether MBC provides the amount of resources available as in the two articles above; MBC is half-way between being a resourceful college and not because of the lack of emotional and mental support
