At a young age, Granados has imagines her life to be like the Keaton’s family in Family Ties which is an American Television Show, so that she can be the girlfriend of the main character. Granados likes herself to look more like an American girl with light color hair than her Mexican kinky brown hair. She also mentions how she pretends that her parents were also characters in the movie, but in lower other version. From that, Granados imagines her American ethic, not only in herself but also in her family life, a white blond American family. In story, Granados also describes how her house was different from what she imagined to the Keaton's house. Due to Granados’s mother painted the walls with different color, and she likes to collect random items and hung them on the walls, unlike the Keaton’s family that hung artwork, and have beige walls, it has become what she said, “A challenge” for her American life. Not only with a pineapple and the Family Ties show, the front yard in her house is also a sign of how deeply she wants to present her American ethnic than Mexican American.
