I had only one regret in my life; quitting baseball in 7th grade. I used to be a very skilled baseball player. In fact, I was one of the best players on my travel team, which made it to the state finals for the Little League World Series. After this season, I switched my focus from baseball to tennis. My tennis career was ending up being unsuccessful and I got cut from Varsity my Sophomore year of high-school. I have always been mad at myself for quitting baseball. Wondering what would have happened if I continued on the path of baseball. After hearing Morrie’s lessons of “treat yourself gently”, and “You can't get stuck on the regrets of what should have happened." (p.166). I am starting to recognize that there is zero benefit to living in the past. I now realize that I need to get over myself and live life regret free, by living in the present and not letting anything that has happened in the past hinder my thoughts.
Tuesday’s With Morrie is a book that has influenced me significantly more from any other story. It makes me rethink the way that I live life, by encouraging me to look at the bigger picture life and rethink my priorities. I now realize that living mindfully, putting a positive spin on things and living with no regrets is significantly more important than the things that I let occupy my mind. Overall, no matter what life throws at you, as long as you come to accept it, and concentrate on the positives you will be much better
