Tuning is done by using ones ear and intuition. The operation of tuning is physically done by changing jets and turning four bolts. In order to get the most efficiency though, there were numerous test on several different fuel properties. University of Michigan is where these studies were done and they were published by SAE Technical Paper “Influence of fuel properties of Metering in Carburetors”. This article provides evidence that there is a sort of sophistication to the device. However, it is not as sophisticated as fuel …show more content…
In another SAE Technical Paper, “Control Oriented Modeling of Mixture Formation Phenomena in Multi-Port Injection Si Gasoline Engines”, the efficiency of the system is tested. There was several condition that were taken into consideration. For example the angle of the injector of the fuel rail and the air to fuel ratio. The angle of the injector could affect how much fuel gets to the cylinder in a certain amount of time. The air to fuel ratio determines whether an engine runs rich or lean, depending on the setting of the ECU. The author Peter Haluska took a number of data samples from each setting in order to find the most performance and efficiency. In his work he talks about using the sensors and ECU in order to get the most information possible. This allowed him to make the fuel delivery system the most
