Turner syndrome results in one of two effects on the genetic makeup of the individual. It can either occur as a result of partially missing or rearranged sex chromosomes, or from a complete lack of one of the two usual sex chromosomes. In some cases, it can arise in females where some, not all, of their cells are effected with Turner syndrome, referred to mosaic Turner syndrome.
