I became a believer at church camp the summer before my freshman year. At that moment, my life was radically changed in such a way that I have hope. As a believer, I am called to be prepared to give a defense of my faith and a reason for the hope that I have to anyone that asks (1 Peter 3:15 NLT). In order to be able to give a defense of my faith, I must be firmly grounded in the final authority of Scripture. The Bible is the inerrant word of God and is useful to teach us truth, make us realize our faults, corrects us when we are wrong, and teaches us to do what is right (2 Timothy 3:16 NLT). Scripture is my primary source and if anything I believe contradict the inerrant word of God then my theology is heretical. Over these past few years, my biblical understanding has grown exponentially, however influences such my family, community, and personal experience still contribute to my theology. I have been raised in a Christian home where regular church attendance was expected, so I became indoctrinated with Christian values. I have not always agreed with my church’s stance on controversial topics which has driven me to further investigate the meaning of Scripture and what it truly says. Furthermore, my personal experiences with the real world and what seems logical influence my theology. Through the power given me in the Holy Spirit, I pray that I have overcome bias to speak truth regarding the
