In this context, we are going to discuss what are IOs, their roles, actors and non actors. What part UNO played and what it will play in future. What are the purposes and limitations of UNO and what UNO’s further agencies are contributing towards the World economy and prosperity.

Establishment of League of Nations:After WW1In 1919 at the Paris Peace Conference , Wilson, Cecil, and Smuts all suggest their draft proposals. The final contract of the League of Nations was draft by a special commission, and the League was recognized by Part I of the Treaty of Versailles. On 28 June 1919, 44 states signed the agreement, including 31 states which had taken part in the war.
Why the League of Nations Failed: After the Abyssinian crisis, Italy left the League in 1937. During 1938, Britain and France tried a new policy 'appeasement' (negotiating directly with Hitler)this failed in 1939 when Hitler invadedCzechoslovakia.When war broke out in 1939, the League remained closed during the war.

Limitations of the UNO
1. It dominated by the Big Powers. The Big Powers like USA, Russia, UK France and China dominate the activities of the UNO. These P5 want that UNO should act according to their desires. They threaten to cut financial aid to the UNO, if their demands are not met.
2. The Veto power gives too much power to the permanent members of the Security Council. The Veto Powers means the right to saying ‘no’ to any decision of the Security Council.
3. The UNO cannot interfere civil warseven if there is brutal violation of human rights.. It can only act to stop wars between countries.
