Although a few people may believe that underage drinking is “fun”, statistics prove that it is anything but fun. One of the main problems that are consistent among most underage drinkers is binge drinking, which refers to the heavy consumption of alcohol over a short period of time (Teens health). It is most popular among teenagers, and studies show that young people consume more than 90 percent of their alcohol by binge drinking (National Institutes of health). What makes binge drinking so much riskier than regular drinking is that it raises one’s blood alcohol concentration much quicker. This can result in a lack of co-ordination, and balance, in addition to a change in behavior and mood. This can cause the individual to suffer terrible falls, as well as to show abnormal traits such as over- aggression which can lead to harmful interactions. More importantly, not only is binge drinking a danger to an individual, but it is also a danger towards the community. Statistics show that one in five teen drivers involved in fatal crashes had some alcohol in their system in 2010. 81 percent of these drivers had a blood alcohol concentration higher than the legal limit for adults (Centers for disease control and prevention). When one is under the influence of alcohol, they tend to make unnecessary and risky decisions, which can ultimately claim their life, as well as the people
