Being enrolled in Gateway to Psychology was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have gotten to learn about so many different things and have been given tons of resources to help me here at the University of Oklahoma. In this course I was given to opportunity to have a meeting with our TA Shawntal. Shawntal helped our class if we ever needed help or just wanted to talk. During our meeting we talked about the careers we wanted to pursue and how we can achieve our long-term goals. It was great being able to get an older students perspective about studying habits and how to get involved on our campus. Another helpful resource was the Education and Career Planning projects we had to complete. We completed Degree Comparison, the Two-Year Academic Planning worksheet, the career profile, and our resume. Doing these assignments was more than just turning them in for a grade. Underage drinking is happening whether you know it or not. I think peer pressure is a big factor of underage drinking. People think its “cool” to drink and if you do not drink you are seen as lame or too uptight. People claim tat they need to drink to have a good time. You should be able to not drink and still be able to have fun at parties. I want people to know that they really do not have to drink to have a good time. I think by making posters or even a club just to make people aware of this situation would be a great way to get people on board. Just because your friends are telling you to do something does not mean that you should do it. I think by showing people how to speak up and not be afraid of what others think of them is a great way to help stop this problem of peer pressure of underage
